Harpenden is an affluent town of a medium size located between St Albans and Luton in the southern English county of Hertfordshire.
Shaw’s Corner is one of the most unique attractions in Harpenden. This idyllic villa was home to renowned Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw from 1906 until 1950. Today the home is a National Trust museum with exhibits about the writer’s life and works. Much of the home remains the same as how Shaw left it, with the gardens and writing shed being two particularly noteworthy areas of the exhibition.
Batford Springs is a small nature reserve close to Harpenden town centre. With the River Lea running through this 3.5 hectare green space, it is a tranquil area of town where locals come to relax and find calm amid the trees and wildflowers to be found here.
