Coatbridge is a town in North Lanarkshire, about eight miles east of central Glasgow. A mid-sized community, it is a part of the Greater Glasgow Urban Area.
Home to the Summerlee museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge is a fiercely proud town with a long history as an important centre of manufacturing. The museum recreates the conditions of the areas miners during the early 20th century, including working antique trams and a reconstructed mine and miners cottages.
One of the local area’s main draws is the Strathclyde Country Park, a four square kilometre area of natural beauty close to Coatbridge. Centred on the beautiful Strathclyde Loch, the park features many trails, sports fields and watersport opportunities, especially during the summer months.
