An area of northeast London, forming part of the London Borough of Haringey, Tottenham Hale’s name is derived from the old English word ‘hale’ (to pull), as timber was unloaded from the River Lea for further transport at this point. You learn something new every day, don’t you?

Most well-known for Tottenham Hale station, the area was historically known for its timber industry. In recent years the industry has died down a bit, giving way to the development of residential areas and a retail park - as well as a housing project which is currently under construction. The nearby Walthamstow Reservoirs and River Lea support a wide variety of waterfowl, including herons, geese, swans, moorhens and coots - attracting visitors from all across, and outside of London. Tottenham Hale station itself is a commuter heavy one, connecting workers from Cambridge all the way down to Liverpool Street.

Hale Village was designed with Hammerby Sjostad in Stockholm, Sweden, in mind. Nice little quirk that.
