A 95 storey skyscraper, The Shard (or "Shard of Glass") was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano in Southwark, Central London. Whilst it may be the tallest building in the UK and the European Union, it only comes in at a measly 96th worldwide. The space is split between offices, hotels and the observatory (which includes a restaurant). Completely glass around its outside, its higher reaches are definitely not recommended for those with a fear of heights.
