Scarborough is an iconic english resort town on the country’s North Sea coast. For years a favourite seaside retreat for holidaymakers across Yorkshire, Scarborough has recently undergone something of a renaissance as the town looks to roll back the years on its role as a tourism hotspot.
Split by a headland bearing the iconic Scarborough Castle, the town’s two bays boast some of North East England’s most beautiful sandy beaches. The castle is a medieval structure harking back to the 12th century and the views from here are some of the finest anywhere in town, stretching far across the North Sea.
Peasholm Park is something of a mecca for Scarborough’s flora enthusiasts, with its Japanese-style plants, flowers and water features making it unique among the region’s many gardens. Opened in 1912, it includes a pagoda and various Japanese statues.
