The most easterly settlement in the whole of the UK, the Suffolk town of Lowestoft is a favourite resort among residents across this part of England. In recent years, Lowestoft has embraced a new role as a major centre of renewable energy in eastern England.
The nearby Carlton and Oulton Marshes provides residents of Lowestoft with a 151 hectare nature reserve just outside of town. Managed by the Suffolk wildlife trust, the site is renowned for both it’s flora and fauna, which include reams of local wildflowers as well as an incredibly diverse population of birds. Marsh harriers, Kestrels and Chinese water deer are just some of the fascinating species on show around Carlton and Oulton marshes.
Pleasurewood hills is a popular local theme park with rollercoasters, rides and child-friendly attractions. The park is extremely popular with locals during the summer months, who come to enjoy both the rides and the variety of animal shows at the theme park.
